Engagement
One ring.
Rather a lot of thinking.
Antique, vintage and newly made rings, chosen one at a time — and commissions made from scratch when nothing quite fits.
How it usually goes
No script, no pressure.
We start by asking what you like, which is often easier to answer by looking than by describing. Old cut or brilliant, gold or platinum, plain or ornate — most people change their mind at least once, which is precisely why it is worth coming in.
If the ring you want doesn't exist in the cabinet, we will either look for it or make it. Both are ordinary parts of the week here.
Questions we are asked
- Are antique engagement rings a good idea?
- Often, yes. They are usually one of a kind, frequently better value for the quality of the stone, and they have already survived a century of wear. We will always check the setting is sound before it leaves us.
- Can a ring be resized?
- Most can, within limits. Fully set bands and some antique settings need more care. We will tell you honestly what is possible before you commit.
- Can you make an engagement ring from scratch?
- Yes. Our bespoke service begins with a conversation about what you like, what you don't, and what you would like to spend.
