Behind the Scenes
Inside the Dawson Workshop
20 February 2026 · 4 min read

The bench has moved since 1974. Very little else about the work has.
Most of what happens at Dawson happens quietly, at a bench, with tools that would be entirely familiar to a goldsmith of a century ago.
A day might include sizing a wedding band, rebuilding a worn claw on an inherited ring, restringing pearls, and setting a stone into a piece being made from scratch.
The skills overlap constantly. Knowing how a Victorian setting was originally made is what allows you to repair it without leaving a modern fingerprint on it.
Questions about a piece of your own are always welcome, and we are happy to look at something without any obligation.
